Defamation

Defamation

There are two types of people who really understand defamation: those who have been sued based on a claim of defamation and those who are members of the media.  Darren Heitner has worn both shoes.  As the Founder and Chief Editor of Sports Agent Blog and regular contributor of sports business related content at Forbes, Heitner has a real understanding of what can and cannot be said about private and public figures alike.  Further, Heitner was once sued by a company claiming to be defamed — a lawsuit that was dismissed and a claim that was eventually settled whereby Heitner was the recipient of settlement funds.

Outside of personal experience, we have represented both plaintiffs and defendants who have been embroiled in defamation-related matters, including causes of action surrounding libel and slander.  We are very selective with the plaintiffs’ cases that we take in this area, since we fully understand how difficult it can be to prevail on such a claim.  That said, we have achieved success on both sides of defamation lawsuits and we are more than happy to provide a free consultation whereby we flesh out all potential and real claims and/or defenses that may be available.
