Trading Card Companies Involved In Lawsuit Concerning Kevin Durant Autographed Memorabilia

The following article was written by Spencer Wingate.

Leaf Trading Cards and its founder Brain Gray are being sued by Panini America for selling products autographed by NBA star Kevin Durant. The lawsuit, filed in Dallas County Court, claims Panini signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Durant in December 2011. The contract grants the trading card company exclusive use of Durant’s name, likeness, nicknames, and signatures. Panini alleges its competitor is committing tortuous interference with a contract by trying to sell 750 stickers with Durant’s autograph. According to the suit, Gray told Panini if it wanted to keep the stickers off the market it should buy them; otherwise they would be released to the market for free. Panini is seeking an injunction, delivery of the stickers, and compensation for damages.
